    Privacy Policy

    Last updated 7 October 2026

    Noxivue lets you track, rate and recommend TV shows. This policy explains what personal data we collect, why, who it is shared with, and the rights you have over it under UK data protection law (the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018).

    In short: we collect only what we need to run your account, we never sell your data or show you adverts, and you can delete everything at any time from Settings.

    1. Who we are

    Noxivue is run by an independent sole trader based in the United Kingdom, who is the data controller responsible for your personal data. You can reach us about anything in this policy at hello@noxivue.tv.

    2. The data we collect

    Your account. Your email address, username and password. Passwords are stored only in hashed form by our authentication provider; we never see them. If you sign in with Google, Google shares your name, email address and profile picture with us.

    Your profile. A profile picture if you upload one, and, with Nightfall, your chosen picture decoration, profile background and custom show posters.

    Your activity. The shows on your list, their status, your ratings, the seasons you have ticked off and when, your friend requests and friends, and the recommendations, notes and reactions you send and receive.

    Billing, if you subscribe to Nightfall. Payments are handled by Stripe. We keep your Stripe customer reference and your subscription's plan, status and renewal dates. Your card details go directly to Stripe and never reach us.

    Technical data. Anonymous, aggregated page-view statistics from Vercel Web Analytics, which uses no cookies and does not track you across sites. Our hosting provider briefly keeps standard server logs (such as IP address and browser type) to keep the service secure and working.

    3. How we use it, and our lawful basis

    • To provide your account and the features you use: your list, ratings, friends, recommendations and Nightfall perks. Basis: performing our contract with you.
    • To take payment for Nightfall and keep the records the law requires. Basis: contract, and our legal obligations (for example, tax records).
    • To send emails about your account, such as sign-in links and password resets. We do not send marketing emails. Basis: contract.
    • To keep Noxivue secure, prevent abuse, fix problems and understand how the site is used in aggregate. Basis: our legitimate interests in running a safe, working service.

    We do not sell your data, use it for advertising, or make automated decisions about you.

    4. Who can see your data

    • Other signed-in users. Anyone signed in can find you by username and see your basic profile: your username, profile picture and, with Nightfall, your chosen decoration and background. This is so people can recognise you and send you a friend request.
    • Friends. People whose friend request you accept, or who accept yours, can also see your list, ratings, custom posters and Nightfall badge.
    • Recommendations are visible to the person who sent them and the friend who received them.

    5. The services we use

    These providers process data on our behalf, under contracts that require them to keep it secure and use it only to provide their service:

    • Supabase: our database, sign-in and file storage, hosted in London, UK.
    • Vercel: hosts the website, with servers in London and a worldwide delivery network, and provides our anonymous analytics.
    • Stripe: processes Nightfall payments.
    • Google: only if you choose to sign in with Google.

    Show details and images come from TMDB. We send TMDB no account data, but your browser loads posters and photos directly from TMDB's servers, which see your IP address as with any website. Likewise, a Google profile picture is loaded from Google's servers.

    Some of these companies are based in the United States, so your data may be processed there. Where that happens, it is protected by the safeguards UK law requires, such as the UK–US Data Bridge or the UK International Data Transfer Addendum.

    6. How long we keep it

    We keep your data for as long as you have an account. When you delete your account in Settings, we immediately delete your account, profile picture, list, ratings, friends and recommendations, and cancel any Nightfall subscription. Copies in our providers' backups are overwritten in their normal backup cycle.

    Payment records held by Stripe are kept for as long as the law requires, typically six years for UK tax purposes.

    7. Cookies

    We only use cookies that are strictly necessary: ones that keep you signed in, and one that remembers which sign-in form you prefer. We use no advertising or tracking cookies, and our analytics need none, which is why we don't ask you to accept cookies. Stripe's checkout page sets its own cookies to prevent fraud.

    8. Your rights

    You have the right to:

    • get a copy of the personal data we hold about you;
    • have inaccurate data corrected (you can change most of it yourself in Settings);
    • have your data deleted (you can do this yourself in Settings);
    • object to, or ask us to restrict, how we use your data;
    • receive your data in a portable format.

    To use any of these rights, email hello@noxivue.tv. We will reply within one month. If you are unhappy with how we handle your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk, though we would appreciate the chance to put things right first.

    9. Children

    Noxivue is not intended for anyone under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has created an account, email us and we will delete it.

    10. Changes to this policy

    If we change this policy, we will update the date at the top. If a change significantly affects how we use your data, we will tell you by email or on the site before it takes effect.

    Questions about this page? Email hello@noxivue.tv. See also our Terms and Privacy Policy.
